FEAR
This play by Andrzej Dobrowolski is a fascinating psychological drama. It presents a married couple Stefan, his wife Agnieszka, her friend Martha and Stefan's friend Mark. They are all very close friends.The Prologue and Epilogue take place prior to the 10th anniversary of 9/11.The play itself is in New York in 2001 from the end of September to December 25th. The terrorist attack on the World Trade Center is the catalist which sets in motion to a lesser or greater extent the psychological changes among the four friends. None of the charaters remains the same. They all undergo a great transformation. People fear many things, threats from outside and internal traumas. Each of the characters is either in denial, or tries to deal with those fears in his or her way. Not one of the characters is what they seem to be, or remain the same. The play is full of surprises and the end is a complete shocker. It plays like a mystery story. In FEAR the dramatist questions our relationships and how we deal with what life deals us. All of us can relate to what happens in the play.
