Autorem i rezyserem sztuki jest Nina Polan. Spektakl sklada hold Konstytucji 3go Maja 1791 r. i nawiazuje do Amerykanskiej Konstytucji, ktora wyprzedzila Polska o cztery lata. W czasie gdy Ameryka zdobywala niepodleglosc, Polska tracila swoja. Tadeusz Kosciuszko i Kazimierz Pulawski walczyli o niepodleglosc Ameryki, Pulaski ginac w Savannie. Kosciuszko wrocil do Polski aby ratowac kraj przed zaglada i prowadzil insurekcje 1794 roku. Konstytucja 3go Maja, przetrwala Targowice, 123 lat rozbiorow, doczekala sie wolnosci w 1918 roku, wspierala Polakow walczacych o wolnosc w czasie drugiej Wojny Swiatowej, poprzez okupacje i lata komunizmu, i sluzyla jako natchnienie i przyklad jak dawnien dla wszystkich ruchow niepodleglosciowych jak i dla Solidarnosci. Program sklada sie z wyjatkow z Konstytucji Amerykanskiej oraz z Konstytucii 3go Maja, piesni z 18go wieku az do1989 r., oraz poezji. Jest przedstawiony przez trzech spiewajacych aktorow do akompaniamentu fortepianowego.
In Pursuit of Liberty
The Play is conceived and directed by Nina Polan.The show evokes a 19th century "salon" with actors, singers and a pianist, in period costumes. It includes excerpts from the Forefathers, Pan Tadeusz, miscellaneus poems, and ballads as well as songs by Chopin, Paderewski, Niewiadomski and Moniuszko set to the po Is a tribute to the Polish Constitution of May 3, 1791, first in Europe and presents its ties to the American Constitution which predates the Polish by 4 years. The Constitution of May 3rd maintained its significance to Poles during the subsequent 123 years of partition between Prussia, Austria and Russia its independence in 1918, through the German and Soviet Union' s occupation, during World War II and post war domination of Poland by the Soviet imposed Communist Regime. The Constitution inspired all movements for independence and Solidarity till 1989 when Poland regaained its freedom. The show is performed in either English or Polish, and consists of readings from both Constitutions, with poetry, music and popular songs from the 18th century to the 1980s, performed by 3actor/singers to piano accompaniment.
